The University of Nairobi Alumni held a breakfast to sensitize its Chapter members on the forthcoming Annual General Meeting and election of the Office holders on October, 24, 2015. The breakfast meeting was held at the Laico Regency Hotel on September, 17, 2015.

Speaking during the breakfast meeting, Prof. Obudho, the Vice-Chairman of the Association noted that the chapter members need to be sensitized so that they can in turn sensitize their members.

The Chapter members were sensitized on various issues; key among them include the forthcoming elections of the officials and the Annual General Meeting. In its 10 years of operation, the Alumni has been run by interim officials and its time the officials were elected into office.

Several committees are being set up to work on the logistics of the day, these committees include; finance, event management and publicity.

Mr. B. M Waweru, Secretary of the Alumni Association noted that the Association has been through a long journey of discovery marred with several challenges.

Among the achievements of the Association are ; establishment of the structure, setting up a strong  financial position of the association, recruitment of new members, overseeing the birth of 13 members, drawing up a strategic plan, creation of an ICT platform, harnessing of positive links , donation of two million shillings yearly to needy students and ranking of the Chancellor.

Also discussed at length was the forthcoming election which is part and parcel of the Alumni Constitution. Electing officials gives the office holders a mandate to carry out their functions with check and balances.

The voting process in the forthcoming elections will have both manual voting and online voting as the membership of the Association is diverse and geographically spread across the globe.  The Chapter members were urged to mobile their units to ensure that at least 1,000 Alumni turn up for the AGM and the Elections.

Prof. R. A. Obudho recieves a cheque from Eng. Joel M. Kiilu who upgraded his Membership from Bronze to Gold Life Membership.
