University of Nairobi Alumni Association Executive committee members presented Kshs. 2,000,000 (Two Million) Bursary fund cheque to University of Nairobi. The cheque was received by the Vice- Chancellor Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi and Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Production & Extension Prof. Madara Ogot.
The Association donates a Minimum of Kshs. 2,000,000 on an annual basis towards the bursary fund kitty. So far, the Association has donated Ksh.21,000,000 (Twenty one Million) towards this kitty.
Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony, the Treasurer of the Association Mrs. Mildred Owuor noted that the Bursary fund was one of its key projects and Executive Board was keen at ensuring needy and deserving UoN students got an opportunity to realize their dreams.
The Vice chancellor appreciated the Alumni Association for its consistency in supporting University of Nairobi projects and specifically the bursary fund kitty that supports needy students in the University. He further observed that University of Nairobi had equipped and empowered graduates who were excelling in different capacities globally and the association was on the right track in ensuring that it provided a pathway for Alumni to give back to their Alma Mater.
