The University of Nairobi Alumni Association was launched in February 2005 and brings together graduates of the University to participate in governance and development of their Alma mater as they socialize and network.

UONAA DIRECTOR

As part of on-going organizational development, UONAA is currently seeking an experienced, professional, Director to oversee all operations, functions, and activities within our organization. The ideal candidate will have the skills and confidence needed to be the face of the organization, responsible for providing organization-wide strategic direction and implementing a progressive vision for the future. Applicants should have excellent managerial and interpersonal skills.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the overall management of UONAA, devising and implementing strategies that will successfully promote effective alumni engagement and relations.
  • In close relation with the Executive Committee, organize and host events and forums for effective coordination and networking between UONAA stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • To maintain up to date records of all alumni members including those in diaspora and related activities.
  • To oversee the activities of alumni secretariat and volunteers, ensuring proper coordination and providing administrative oversight.
  • To coordinate organizational reporting and documentation processes, ensuring timely communication to the executive committee on programs and activities of the association.
  • To coordinate the establishment, development and strengthening of UON alumni chapters
  • To develop educational programs and trainings for the continuous professional development of alumni, staff and student beneficiaries.
  • To maintain compliance with all internal policies and legal regulations in every area of the organization’s daily activities, including fostering development of short and long-term plans, policies, and guidelines in this area. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Committee.
  • Undertake membership drive amongst all cadre of Alumni
  • Undertake Resource mobilization to meet budgetary targets

Education and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing,law, communication, public administration, Public relations, leadership or any other related field.
  •  A relevant master’s degree will be an additional benefit
  • A least 3 years’ experience in a leadership and management position.
  • Sound business, marketing and financial management knowledge.
  • Strong Digital literacy skills, proven ability to work with online collaboration and productivity tools, and effective social media management skills.
  • Relevant Tertiary qualification such as Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, ICT, HRM are essential.
  • Must be an Alumni of the University of Nairobi either at Undergraduate or Postgraduate level.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including digital literacy (Written and oral presentation).
  • Outstanding management skills to direct and oversee investments and fundraising efforts. 
  • Marketing skills both online and offline marketing strategies
  • Aptitude for forging and maintaining fruitful relationships of trust with shareholders, partners, and external authorities. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, take proactive measures against possible challenges, and resolve issues quickly, managing crises rapidly and effectively when necessary
